~Tigger ~

Though Tigger suffered from illness since he was found he was still extremely sweet and lovable. He loved to run and play with his toys and his fellow kitten friends and cuddle with anyone he could. He will be very missed by all who knew and loved him.

MAX

This morning Max went for his last vet visit. Those who saw him the last few days know that he has been failing. He was diagnosed with kidney failure a year ago & we bought him this extra year with lots of love & care. Thank you so much for those who did so much extra for this old boy. He knew he was loved in the few years he had with us.  June 2009 - September 2011

Princess was surrendered to us with her daughter quite a few years ago. Her daughter was adopted by one of our volunteers, but Princess had some behavior issues that prevented her from being adopted. We were able to take her to the sanctuary in upstate New York where she was finally able to live cage free. She spent her time there following Al-the amazing man who runs the sanctuary- all day and sleeping with him every night. Everybody who knew Princess loved her, in spite of her grumpiness.

RIP Princess

Sweet Mabel was found wandering the streets by animal control and we took her into the shelter. She was only with us for a few short weeks but everyone grew to love her. She passed away undergoing surgery for a mammary tumor that turned out to be cancer. She appeared to have been pretty neglected in her life but the volunteers at the shelter took care of her and she knew she was finally loved!
     RIP Mabel  ~7/5/11~

Wally was only 9 months old when he left this world but he was extremely loved and cared for during his short time here.   He loved to play and would rev up his engine, go crazy and then collapse all in a good way. He was adored and spoiled and he will leave a huge hole in the hearts of all those who cared for him.   We will all miss him.

Mouse lost her brave fight with sickness after 2 months.
She was a very loving and beautiful girl.
Mouse was loved by many and will be missed by all
who had the pleasure to know her.

I had adopted a cat from you guys a while back at Petsmart. His name was Thoreau -
he resided at your shelter for several years I think before I adopted him.
I know how well everyone there took care of him and loved him so I wanted to let
you know he passed away yesterday. He got out of the house a couple weeks back and we
searched everywhere to no avail. We finally found him 2 days ago and rushed him to the
vet but unfortunately we had to euthanize him. He was already having Kidney issues
(his blood work showed this a few months back) and his liver shut down.
There was nothing we could do for him. I feel horrible this happened to the poor boy.
I am happy we found him and he wasn't alone. He was a wonderful cat and had a nice full life.
He was 7 when I got him and I have had him about 7 years now I think.
I am sorry to have to send you this e mail. We miss him so much.

Our handsome Buddy lived up to his name in his short time here.
When he wasn't sleeping in silly positions or cuddling, he was being
a clown with his toys and anything else he could make into a toy
(cardboard box, gift bag, shoes, his food).
He will be terribly missed but very fondly remembered.

Ursula had a very extensive vocabulary, consisting of gurgles, purrs and moofs. We thought she was politely asking for pets and scratches!

Lucky
September 28, 2010

Lucky died last night, peacefully and in my arms.  He was a wonderful, gentle, feisty old soul
who loved attention, naps on the kitchen chair and Boar’s Head turkey.  Over the last two months, he went totally blind and became incapable of climbing the stairs.  He was tired and growing weaker, but he was content, resting in his big doggie bed and listening to Animal Planet.
He knew when I was near and was happy when I cuddled and held him like a baby.  I will miss him.  He made me happy and I am grateful that I had the chance to love him.
I think he loved me too.
Rest in peace my little old man.

~Heidi~

Heidi passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
Heidi had been living at Spirit Animal Sanctuary since November 2008.  She had had a leg removed from cancer a few months back and another mass appeared. A decision was made not to put her through the rigorous treatments, but to have her run and jump forever over the Rainbow Bridge.
Heidi was a tough little girl but she really took a liking to Al at the sanctuary and enjoyed her time there.
We thank Al for taking all the unwanted, and unadoptables and giving them the chance to just be a dogs.
                                            ~We will never forget Heidi~

~ Rosie ~
April 2010

I am sure if you are a volunteer at FOLAS you have either met or heard about Rosie and how for many years she was the queen of the main trailer.

Rosie was adopted recently after being seen in our Happy Tails calendar and was enjoying a home fit for a queen!

On April 10th, Rosie suffered an episode and was unable to walk.
She was brought to the vet and was thought to have kidney stones, she was put on a special diet to help dissolve them.

Sadly, she had another episode and was rushed to Red Bank last night...........she had cancer in her rear legs and had to be euthanized.

We will all miss her dearly and wish to thank Tara and her family for giving her a wonderful home.

We all will truly miss her...........God bless Rosie!

Though just a kitten when he left this world to cross the Rainbow Bridge, he left a huge paw print on Christi and Michael's heart and also on all of us who knew him.  Indy was very, very special and I am forever grateful that he spent his short time on earth knowing he was loved.

INDY

From Christi - We will always remember Indy because he was soooo unique for a kitten and we probably will never be able to find another cat like him.

We miss him terribly....he was ALWAYS with us more than the dogs are if you could imagine that, and Buster (our other cat) is very different, I think he really misses Indy.  I want to THANK YOU for introducing Indy into our family and for recommending such a beautiful and sweet little boy!!!!

TINY is a little guy who was rescued by a nice family and brought to the shelter.

He was found with a bad injury to his head and neck and is still a
little wobbly as a result of his injury. It certainly doesn't stop him
from batting his toy mice all over his cage though.

He is absolutely adorable and all the volunteers have fallen in love with him.
He loves to be petted but is still a little afraid of being held.

Update:  What was originally thought to be an injury, was diagnosed as a skin disease.  TINY had to be euthanized due to the severity of his illness.

PIERRE was priceless! He had a unique look with his crooked little smile and that sweet little face. All the volunteers were in love with him. He was friendly and affectionate. All he wanted was to be petted and loved.
