more Onslow...

Onslow is settling in well and has been eating, drinking and using the litter box right from the start. He has a very healthy appetite and is very playful and affectionate. He joins us in bed and goes back and forth between us like he can't get close enough to us, purring up a storm. He's a bundle of energy and we try to tire him out before bedtime by playing with him. He chases the laser-pointer all around the apartment, plays with toy mice and balls and loves one that's like a feather-duster on a stick. He stalks it, pounces and leaps on it. Then I turn it around so it's just the stick and it's like it's a whole new toy!

At first, he was a little skittish when he was on the ground and we were walking around him. He would hide under stuff and bolt out of the way. I suppose from his view, we're giants. Did he have any bad experiences with someone stepping on him? He seems to be getting better used to it, however, and is much braver - particularly when it comes to food! He loves belly-rubs and ear-scratches and is fine with physical contact with both of us.

There are two minor issues we're working with him on. One is that he walks around and cries sometimes. He's okay but seems to cry for attention. We hope when he has a cat friend he will be a little less needy. The other is that he tries to climb up the back of my office chair using claws and teeth. I've pulled him off with a firm "no!" but had to resort to a spray bottle. He tried again this morning and I taped some aluminum foil to the back so if he tries again it won't be so inviting. I'm also trying to keep him from nipping at my beard when we're curled up.

But we love him very much and he is just adorable - those eyes are so cool! And judging by the ears and paws he needs to grow into, he is gonna be a big boy. He's been keeping me company when I'm working and I thought you might like the attached picture of him "helping" me work!

We definitely want to get a second female companion for him and plan on stopping by.
