Hi!

Jimmy is doing great!!!  Our vet (who is wonderful) said the key is to keep him using his back legs, so we just need to keep him pain free.  We had 24 carat gold wires implanted in his ears and the bottoms of his feet, which is like a permanent acupuncture for his knees and hips.  It has done wonders for him.  He runs around the back yard with Baron, and has even put on some muscle mass in his rear.  We also have him on a joint lubricant called Cosoquin, and he doesn't seem to be bothered at all.  He loves his routine here and is happier than ever, and listens to us very well.  We absolutely love him.

Baron has remained the pain in the a-- he always was, though he did become calmer after Jimmy came here.  I guess not being alone has done that.  I do have to say, though, that in the last month or so he seems to have turned a corner and has become more obedient and less of an a--hole.  I hope it lasts.

Best regards,

Jeff

Update: 7/24/08

Last night at the meeting, Noreen gave us an update on one of our dogs who we adopted out approximately 2 years ago. He was a big sweet pit mix who in spite of a rough start was a real sweetie. Noreen was contacted a few days ago by the couple who adopted him. They told her that Jimmy had become paralyzed in his hind legs. It turns out he had a problem with a disc in his back which required major surgery.

Noreen spoke to Jimmy's family this morning and they were happy to report that he had come through his surgery with flying colors and surprised even his doctors by recovering quicker than they expected. He is going home to finish recuperating, and will be fine. It's nice to know that one of our once homeless animals has found such a loving and devoted home.
