Subject: Here's Champ
Hello everyone,
Here are some photos of Champ whom we adopted on 5/25/08. He was 1 yr
and 9 days old.
He was found in Jersey City at the age of 4 months old with a broken
tail and chained to a pole with a huge chain and padlock. Because of
the size of the chain and lock around his neck he was given the name
HULK by the volunteers at the shelter. He had been rescued from dog
fighters who had used him as a bait dog because he didn't have the
disposition for fighting. His foster dad, Bob, renamed him Champ. We
kept that name because despite his rough start, he managed to survive
and hold on to his great spirit, good natured temperment and
personality. The only problem he had was that he didn't like to share
his toys and growled and snapped at dogs who came near him when he had a
toy. Within two days of gentle reprimands from my husband, John, and me
Champ happily shares his toys with his "brother from another mother",
Muggles (our Shih Tzu) and his cousin Buddy (my daughter's Pit Bull) who
is a frequent visitor to our home. He loves to ride in the car (usually
to a play-date at Buddy's house), running around and around the yard and
up and down off the deck chasing birds and airplanes and the occasional
rabbit or squirrel. Fortunately, he hasn't caught anything as yet. As
you can see by the photos, Champ loves his Nylabone, but often lets
Muggles or Buddy chew on it with him. Champ and Buddy (also a rescue)
are the same age and Muggles is a month younger. The big guys think
they're lap dogs and Muggles
thinks he's a big guy and is usually right in there with them. They
like to play "chase me" with the bone and often run around together with
each holding opposite ends of the bone and having loads of fun. I'm so
glad we found each other and that he's happy, too. He's such a cuddly,
mushy, big guy.
Thanks again for taking such good care of Champ until we found each
other.
Love,
Eileen and John |
