Blaise

Thanks for emailing me. I had planned to email the shelter or call you sometime this weekend.  Blaise is great!  When we got home last Sunday, I let her out and I kept the house quiet so she could explore her new surroundings without being startled.  She looked around and then found her way under my bed and stayed there for about an hour.  I showed her where her food and litter box would be.  She started eating food shortly thereafter.  She also used her little box with no problem.

I think she’s adjusting just fine, she seems at ease and comfortable being here. She likes going under the bed, so I respect her space and wait for her to come out when she’s ready, even though I want to play with her as soon as I get home. J  She’s not a lap cat and doesn’t want to be handled/picked up, but enjoys it when you talk to her.  She’ll just roll over on to her back and I get in a few rubs.

She has a great personality and fits right in.  She’s not too active and she has no interest in toys, but she does like when I pull a string across the floor. She enjoys watching the birds out the window and she loves the hamster.  Or maybe she wants to eat the hamster and I just think she loves him. They have a stare down sometimes and then sometimes the hamster pretends to be a statue when he sees Blaise coming.  They are fun to watch.  Blaise also enjoy lounging in front of the aquarium watching the fish.

At night she sleeps on my bed, sometimes she’ll walk across my body. I have a few scratching posts around the house for her enjoyment, but she hasn’t learned to use them yet.  She’s not destroying anything though she did claw the chair, there was no damage, her nails look like they were cut, so she’s okay.  She did sneeze twice when we brought her home and a few times since Sunday, could be an air freshener, but she doesn’t appear to be sick. She’s not due to the vet until next year, but I will probably take her in just so he/she can get to know her and for a check-up.

We LOVE having her around and I am so happy to have her.  She’s a great cat.  She’s been introduced to the family and I have taken at least 80 pictures so far.  I think she’s sick of me and my camera.  I’m attaching a few pictures of her.  I haven’t changed her name, we really couldn’t come up with anything else, so she’s still Blaise.  By any chance, do you know why she was named Blaise?

I’m reading up on everything cat and enrolled in a free e-course for cat owners, there’s a lot I don’t know, but I’m willing to learn.  So I am enjoying myself with Blaise, she’s like my new baby and I already love her.

Thanks for writing and email any time for updates.  If you want me to keep you posted on how she’s doing I can do that as well.

Valerie
