Kahthi (Laurel)

Hi

Wishes for a very Happy New Year to you and all at FOLAS.  I hope it will be one of much happiness, peace and contentment to you.  I wish you every success in continuing the wonderful work you do for the dear furry beings.

Kahthi is keeping very well and brings me so much joy.

She went on a trip with me to my sister's home in Maryland over thanksgiving!  That was a very loud drive for me as she voiced her displeasure at being cooped in her carrier for about 2/3rds of the way going and about 90% of the coming back.  But....car journey apart....she ENJOYED my sister's home so much.  As soon as I let her out of her carrier she checked the house and spoke to me in a satisfied voice.  Maybe she lived in a house like that before.  She absolutely enjoyed investigating all the rooms and was impatient in the mornings for me to open the door of the bedroom so that she could go downstairs on the exploratory ventures!

Everyday I'm surprised at how gentle she is.  In this respect she is very different to all the cats I've known in my lifetime. If by mistake her claw scratches me while we play with the comforter, she will very quickly retract her claws or stop hitting out.  Never will she intentionally hit me.  She lets me clean her ears and actually starts purring when I start on it!  She's not too happy when I clip her nails and has figured out how to quickly hide her dainty paws when I start trying to take a look at often-needle-sharp claws!!!  But I do manage to clip them every so often!!!

I have not been able to come to Petsmart in a long while.  I'm trying to finish my dissertation research these days as I plan to defend in May.  It means that I work practically every day at the university.  Saturdays and Sundays are wonderful to get work done as very few people are around in the department.  I hope all the kitties are doing well and the long-timers like Juliette have found homes.  I will try to make it one of these days but I cannot tell exactly when.  It all depends on how fast I progress on my research and writing.

My greetings and best wishes to Susan too.

Warm regards,
Nelun
