Hi,
We adopted a lovely dog from you in June. He was being fostered by Janice and you folks called him Henry, which was the name of our dog who had just died and I thought it was some sort of sign! You thought he was a Labrador Retriever, but our vet thinks he is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He came from a kill shelter in Georgia. Anyway, I wanted to send you a few Christmas pictures of him. He's now named Rooney. He's a wonderful, wonderful dog! He needed some TLC and to learn to trust us, but it's been worth it! We treated all of his bald patches, which were probably caused by stress, put a bit of weight on him because at 66 lbs., he was about 10 lbs. underweight. He also was marking a certain part of our house, but we think that was also due to anxiety so we gave him lots of love and attention and it seems to have done the trick. Right now, he's got the run of the house and is behaving beautifully thanks to a great obedience class at Wonderdogs, where they believe in gentle training with food rewards. I did not want to use a choke or any of those zappers. Rooney really loved it and performed so well that we are thinking about taking him to agility classes. Once again, I thank you for rescuing this lovely dog who has brightened our home!
Sincerely, Jane |
